Tommy Smith, a Nashville native, first came to the Skyforce as an assistant coach under Flip Saunders. A year later he transitioned to the front office where he really found his calling. He went on to set a new standard on how to sell minor league basketball to fans. He set season ticket, sponsorship and attendance records in Sioux Falls, earning him CBA executive of the year twice. He was an important part of the first Skyforce CBA Championship season in 1996. He has gone on to work at the NBA specializing in helping NBA D-League teams with their businesses.
